President Donald Trump directs national security staff to gather in the White House Situation Room

Washington, D.C.: As he departed the G7 conference in Canada early on Monday to go back to Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump allegedly ordered his national security team to meet in the White House Situation Room.

On Truth Social, the president disputed that his early departure was related to an Israeli-Iranian truce, stating that it was “much bigger than that.”

Iran “CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” Trump said earlier, before declaring that “everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

Lawrence Jones of Fox News said that when Trump returned to Washington, D.C., he instructed the National Security Council to be ready in the Situation Room. The reporting was verified by CNN.

The United States did not join Israel in hitting Iran on Monday night, according to a Pentagon spokeswoman.

“American Forces are maintaining their defensive posture and that has not changed,” Sean Parnell posted on X, the previous Twitter platform. “We will protect American troops & our interests.”
