The first tsunami waves have already hit Southeast Alaska, Kodiak, and the western Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

Four-foot waves crashed onto Hawaii’s coastlines, but the state was prepared for much more powerful seas. The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency anticipated major damage along the beaches, but no damage has been confirmed as of yet. Hawaii County has established emergency shelters.

“So far, so good. A preemptive power outage is not planned. Don’t drive at all this evening. All flights into and out of Hawaii have been canceled for tonight, according to the Hawaii EMA, even though the airports have not yet been affected by the waves.

The arrival of tsunami waves is predicted to start between 2:35 and 2:55 am ET (12:05 and 12:25 pm IST) in Washington and Oregon, which are also on notice. Beginning at 2:50 am ET (12:20 pm), the arrival in Northern California is anticipated to be in the San Francisco Bay at around 3:40 am ET (1:10 pm), and the beaches of Southern California at approximately 4 am ET (1:30 pm).

The National Weather Service in the San Francisco Bay Area has issued a tsunami alert for all coastal areas throughout the Bay Area and Central Coast, including San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. It has cautioned that dangerous currents and waves might occur and advised people to avoid the beaches and waterways until local authorities issue a warning.

NSW Los Angeles issued a similar warning, stating that strong currents and increasing sea levels might impact all coastal locations, particularly harbors and marinas. “Tsunamis typically arrive as a series of waves, which can be dangerous for many hours after the first wave,” it said.

Indians in California and other US West Coast states have been cautioned by the Indian mission in San Francisco to stay away from coastal regions, evacuate to higher ground in the event of a tsunami warning, heed local alarms, and be prepared for emergencies.
