It was in reaction to an Atlantic piece that claimed that during his time in office, he had called the fallen soldier a “f****** Mexican” and voiced dissatisfaction about the expense of her burial.

In April 2020, a fellow soldier bludgeoned 20-year-old Army private Vanessa Guillén, who was the daughter of Mexican immigrants, to death at Fort Cavazos, which was then known as Fort Hood, close to Killeen, Texas.

“Whoa. In reaction to the magazine’s piece, Mayra Guillén posted on X, previously Twitter, saying, “I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics- hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members.”

“All that President Donald Trump did was honor Vanessa and my family. Actually, I cast my ballot for President Trump today.

According to police, Army Specialist Aaron Robinson dismembered and disposed of Guillén’s corpse in a remote, forested region close to the base with the assistance of his girlfriend. About two months after Guillén’s remains were discovered, he committed himself.

In July of that year, Trump extended an invitation to Guillén’s family to visit the White House. He said he would contribute to the funeral expenses at one point during the conversation. “If I can help you out with the funeral, I’ll help—I’ll help you with that,” he said. “I’ll assist you. I’ll assist you financially.”

About two weeks after the meeting, Guillén was laid to rest in a Houston cemetery during a public memorial ceremony.

The Atlantic said Tuesday that at a meeting in the Oval Office on December 4, 2020, Trump inquired about the expense of Guillén’s burial.

“Were we charged for the funeral? How much did it cost? According to Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of the magazine, who cited two attendees at the meeting, Trump stated.

According to the article, Trump grew irate when an assistant informed him that a $60,000 bill had arrived.
“It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f****** Mexican!” According to reports, Trump stated this before telling his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, not to pay the bill.

The “f****** Mexican” remark was disputed by Trump spokeswoman Alex Pfeiffer.
“That was never said by President Donald Trump. Two weeks before the election, The Atlantic published this ludicrous fiction,” Pfeiffer stated.

The Guillén family’s attorney, Natalie Khawam, told the Atlantic that while she delivered the bill to the White House, Trump never paid her. According to Khawam, the Army paid for certain expenses while contributions paid for others.

Shortly after sending Pfeiffer an email with inquiries, Khawam sent the magazine a statement from Mayra Guillén, according to Goldberg’s account. The identical statement was then sent via email by Pfeiffer.

“I am beyond grateful for all the support President Donald Trump showed our family during a trying time,” concluded the message. “I have personally seen how President Trump recognizes the service of our country’s heroes. We appreciate everything that he has done and still doing to help our soldiers.

Khawam accused Goldberg of fabricating their discussion once the report was released. Khawam said on X, previously Twitter, “More importantly, he used and exploited my clients, and Vanessa Guillen’s murder… for cheap political gain.”

“Any indication that President Trump denigrated Ms. Guillen or declined to cover her burial costs is completely untrue,” Meadows wrote on X. He was really kind and compassionate, and he wanted to ensure that Vanessa Guillen and her family were treated fairly by the military and the US government.
