US: Hurricane Milton debris flies over Anderson Cooper, Watch video

US: Flying debris has injured CNN presenter Anderson Cooper while he was covering Hurricane Milton. Wednesday night when Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm, the seasoned announcer was speaking into the microphone in Bradenton, Florida, battling rain and wind.

He muttered dodging aside as a piece of Styrofoam blasted into his body, “At the water now, and it’s really starting to pour over, woah, okay.”

A few minutes later, Cooper added “there is so much rain and wind,” indicating to the weather, as huge bits of trash—including big plants—could be seen racing across the screen behind him.

The National Hurricane Center reports Milton, who twice reached Category 5 level and drew energy from the Gulf of Mexico’s warm waters, had maximum sustained winds of 120 mph as it passed Siesta Key, Florida, around 8:30 p.m.

Along Florida’s Gulf Coast, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, and Fort Myers, the storm produced a threatening storm surge to heavily populated regions.
