US: Donald Trump won Pennsylvania on Wednesday morning
US: Early on Wednesday morning, Donald Trump won Pennsylvania, almost guaranteeing his ascent to the presidency.
Both candidates have spent the most time canvassing in Pennsylvania, which has the largest reward among the seven battleground states with 19 electoral votes.
Smaller Rust Belt communities like Scranton and Allentown, as well as rural areas, have seen Trump’s greatest rise since 2020.
In order to counteract Trump’s overwhelming support in rural regions, Kamala Harris needed to win large in metropolitan Pennsylvania, which may have been where her campaign stumbled in these Rust Belt cities.
Scranton is located in Lackawanna County, which voted more than 5% for Trump in comparison to 2020.
Although Harris was predicted to win, her margins were far less than Joe Biden’s. She received 50.9% of the Lackawanna vote after almost all of the ballots were tallied on Wednesday morning.
Biden’s hometown is Scranton, which has one of the highest concentrations of Irish Americans of any American city.
But at a time when Harris desperately needed to boost support in Pennsylvania, Biden has been mostly absent from the campaign.
Although Lehigh County, which includes Allentown, has a far greater population than Lackawanna, it also flipped more than 5 percent to Trump in comparison to 2020, making it an even bigger prize for Harris.
Harris is probably going to win here as well, but not by a significant margin since he only received 50.6% of the vote, which is much less than what was required to win Pennsylvania.
Not unexpectedly, she performed best in the bigger cities, garnering 78.5 percent of the vote in Philadelphia County and 59.2 percent in Allegheny County, which is home to Pittsburgh.
Harris was also elected by other counties in the Philadelphia metropolitan region, but not by sufficiently wide margins—60.4% in Montgomery County and 55.8% in Chester County.
Trump did quite well in rural, little counties.
Trump received 86.2 percent of the vote in the southern Pennsylvania Appalachian county of Fulton, which is home to more than 90 percent white people. With 83.8 percent, he won Bedford County, which is nearby.
Trump backer Elon Musk’s cash donation was a major role in Pennsylvania. A voter in one of the seven battleground states would get $1 million per day, according to the Tesla billionaire.
Any registered voter who signed a petition supporting the first and second amendments was eligible to enter the competition.
In six swing states, the reward for referring another voter to sign was $47; however, in Pennsylvania, the value of the state increased to $100.
Despite a fierce battle by the Philadelphia district attorney, a judge decided that the giveaway may go on.
Musk’s lawyer argued in court that the $1 million each day was not a lottery, contrary to what the district attorney had indicated, and that the winners were pre-selected.
