Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei gave a befitting reply to Trump’s bombing threat

U.S.: President Donald Trump’s threat to destroy Iran over the nuclear disagreement will be met with severe vengeance, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned. According to Khamenei’s speech on Monday, “If they commit any mischief, they will surely receive a strong reciprocal blow.”

Since Trump’s exit from the 2015 nuclear agreement, tensions between the United States and Iran have increased, and the two countries are now locked in a sour stalemate. Iran has escalated its nuclear aspirations in response to Trump’s fresh “bombing” threats and the reinstatement of sanctions. Iran maintains its tough stance against direct negotiations, which it perceives as being compromised by the United States’ “maximum pressure” approach, even as the United States calls for a fresh agreement.

Khamenei’s remarks followed Trump’s recent threat to strike Iran if it rejected his offer of new nuclear negotiations.

“Israel and the United States have long been hostile. During a speech on Eid al-Fitr, the festival celebrating the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, Khamenei said, “They threaten to attack us, which we don’t think is very probable, but if they commit any mischief, they will surely receive a strong reciprocal blow.”

Trump’s Bomb Threat Against Iran

According to President Trump, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing.” He reiterated his warning to attack Iran if it does not reach an agreement on its nuclear program. He threatened to penalize Tehran with “secondary tariffs” as well.

Trump has continued the strategies of his first term by intensifying his “maximum pressure” campaign on Iran since taking office again in January. Among them are the reintroduction of harsh sanctions and the withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement, which had imposed limitations on Iran’s nuclear activity in return for the lifting of sanctions. Tehran vehemently disputes the Western countries’ ongoing accusations that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons.

Iran’s Openness to Indirect Discussions

Trump wrote to Khamenei earlier this month to urge nuclear negotiations and to threaten military action if Tehran refused. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded to the letter, stating that Iran had rejected direct talks due to pressure from the United States but was still ready for “indirect negotiations.”

What Individuals Are Saying

“The animosity between the United States and Israel has always existed,” said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran. They threaten to attack us, which we don’t believe is likely, but they will undoubtedly get a severe retaliation if they do anything wrong. And the Iranian people themselves will deal with them if they want to instigate insurrection inside the nation, as they have in the past.”

“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing—and it will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before,” President Donald Trump told NBC.

It is still unclear whether the United States would increase its threats or seek other forms of discussion given the ongoing diplomatic deadlock.
