Former President Donald Trump calls his rally staff “very stupid” after showing the “wrong picture” to the crowd
US Elections: Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump referred to the rally workers as “so stupid” when they showed the audience the “wrong picture.” During his speech on Sunday at his event in Juneau, Wisconsin, Trump attempted to characterize the sizable gathering that had attended his rally the previous evening in Butler, Pennsylvania. On July 13, the former president was at the same location where Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to kill him. The shooter murdered Cory Comperatore, a former volunteer firefighter.
Trump said that he intended to display the Juneau crowd photos that showed the magnitude of the Butler event on Saturday, which he believed drew 100,000 attendees. According to Jennifer Borrasso, a KDKA-TV reporter present at the event, as of 2:46 p.m., the U.S. Secret Service estimated that 21,000 people had gathered. 24,000 individuals, according to CBS News, were present at the ceremony.
“We had over 100,000 people show up in beautiful little Butler,” Trump remarked the next day at the rally in Juneau. “Beautiful Butler, Pennsylvania, is a little town. We had a large gathering, and this one is much larger than ours [applause from the throng]. I must disclose to you. It takes place everywhere. But there was love, and we had one hundred thousand people.
When it came time for publishing, the media report had emailed the Pennsylvania State Police and the U.S. Secret Service to inquire about their estimates of the number of people in Butler but had not heard back.
“And we have something to show you the kind of crowd we had last night; it was really something special, so let’s put it up if we can,” Trump turned to face the Wisconsin audience and said, glancing at the screen. A video of the sizable Butler audience was posted online. Turning back to the audience, Trump said, “That’s the wrong picture.”
“That was unbelievable; they used the wrong picture; it was the same picture, but they had the two side things,” he said, causing the audience to chuckle. He then spread out his arms and remarked, “They’re so stupid!”
But that’s the thing—you know, we sometimes experience it, right? That’s what we have. That doesn’t happen very often, but as you can see, there was an incredible turnout.
This means even if you assume the entire venue area is tighly-packed (the rear third clearly isn't…it's much less dense), that comes to around 17,800 people.
When you add the crowd on the risers & tents, I suppose it could have been up to 20,000 at the outside. 6/ pic.twitter.com/4zDPpNZfZh

A user on X going by the handle @charles_gaba measured the space taken up by the rally on Saturday using an aerial shot and then calculated the crowd size using the typical estimate of one person every 4.5 square feet, or around 20,000 people in total.
Trump talks about the number of people who attend his rallies a lot, both in speeches and on Truth Social. On September 10, Vice President Kamala Harris remarked in the presidential debate that people were “leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom.” “People don’t leave my rallies,” Trump retorted. We are seeing the largest and most amazing protests in political history.”
He declared in August that his demonstration on January 6, 2021, drew a larger crowd than Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” from 1963. It is anticipated that 53,000 people attended Trump’s 2021 event, compared to almost 250,000 for King.
