US: According to President-elect Donald Trump, Congress is drafting “one powerful bill” to implement his main MAGA goals.

Republicans in the House and Senate initially intended to approve two measures that covered the majority of the agenda. In order to demonstrate accomplishments early and keep the momentum going, Speaker Mike Johnson recently said that Republicans want to enact “one big, beautiful” law within the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency.
In an appearance with Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo earlier on Sunday, Johnson reiterated the idea, stating that the House was looking for a vote in early April.
Although it would take more effort and time to do so, Johnson maintained that if everything was included in a single measure, it would be simpler to pass because there would be “enough elements in there to pull everyone along.”

All of this will be compensated for by tariffs and other measures from nations that have long benefited from the United States. Republicans need to band together and deliver these historic victories for the American people as soon as possible. “There are a group of us who support breaking it up into two pieces,” House Freedom Caucus chair Representative Andy Harris said on Saturday on Fox News. First, a little border piece where we provide the president with the funds he needs to fortify our southern border and begin deporting criminal, illegal immigration … A number of us believe that we should put off the huge, big, magnificent bill until the summer because it will take time to work things out. The president wants some money right now, and that’s the easiest way to get it.
“We are hoping for a House vote, possibly during the first week of April,” Johnson said on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. Now, everything has to happen in the proper order, and I believe we can keep those trains traveling on schedule and in the correct direction along the way. If that occurs, it will be sent to the Senate after leaving the House in early April, maybe as early as April 3. By the end of April, that law would be on the president’s desk ready for signing.
What Follows
On January 20, the president-elect is expected to return to the White House. The reconciliation bill has to be completed by the House of Representatives in order for it to go forward as soon as Trump takes office. In order to approve the law, Republicans, who have a slender majority in the House, would probably have to overcome Democratic opposition and intraparty conflicts.
