Barack Obama takes a dig at Donald Trump’s parenting ability at Democratic rally

At Wednesday night’s Democratic event in Pittsburgh, laughter could be heard from the crowd when Barack Obama made fun of Donald Trump‘s parenting skills.

He praised Kamala Harris’s plan to provide a $6,000 child tax credit to parents of newborns, saying, “She wants to make it easier to afford stuff like a crib, or a car seat, or diapers.”

He went on, “I remember changing diapers,” before posing the question to the crowd, “Do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?”

When someone in the crowd retorted, “His own!” the audience laughed loudly.

Pointing to the audience member, Obama—who is a father of two daughters—replied, “I almost said that but I decided I shouldn’t say it.”

Obama began his campaign trail tour on Thursday in Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state, with the goal of strengthening Vice President Kamala Harris’s position as she attempts to win over black male voters who are still uncertain.

“Kamala will give a tax cut to 100 million middle-class and working people here in America,” said the former Democratic president during his address, “instead of giving more tax breaks to billionaires and raising prices on working families.”

In a statement, Trump’s director of campaign communications, Steven Cheung, said, “Barack Hussein Obama couldn’t even make a coherent defense of Kamala Harris’ record because even he knows she represents a disastrous four years of skyrocketing inflation, an out-of-control border, and rampant crime that terrorizes communities across the country.”

Following a terrible debate, President Joe Biden withdrew from the contest; thus, Obama supported Harris’s presidential campaign.

Obama promised that he and former first lady Michelle Obama would “do everything we can to make sure she wins in November” and praised Harris as “an excellent presidential candidate.”

According to polls, Harris and former President Donald Trump are in a statistical tie. A fresh Quinnipiac poll released on Wednesday showed Harris leading Trump by three points in Pennsylvania. The margin of error for the survey is plus or minus 2.6 percent.

In 2011, during the same election campaign, Obama and previous Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney were almost tied.

A Pew survey from 2021 indicates that, among registered voters, Romney has leveled the playing field with Obama (46% to 46%), having been down by nine points (42% to 51%) in September.

This shows that while Trump and Harris continue their policy-focused campaigns to win over independents and those who aren’t sure about them, there may still be time for the polls to change.
