Singer Chappell Roan’s Instagram fan account reacts to Kamala Harris’ comments
Co-administrator of one of Chappell Roan’s largest fan Instagram pages said that fans are “divided” about the singer’s remarks on the November presidential election.
The “Pink Pony Club” singer, who has had an explosive surge in popularity this year, gained widespread attention when she discussed the presidential campaign in an interview that was published on Friday, September 20 in The Guardian.
According to Roan, there are issues on both sides, which is why she hasn’t yet backed a candidate—specifically, Democratic contender Kamala Harris.I urge everyone to use critical thinking and to cast a ballot.”
However, others saw her absence of a formal endorsement of Harris as a covert nod to Republican candidate Donald Trump. Roan thus cleared the matter on Tuesday by posting on TikTok.
She said that although she did not support Trump in the slightest, she thought it was the duty of eligible voters to keep their legislators responsible. Although the comments on that video were disabled, her views provoked a contentious discussion on other social media platforms.
Speaking with a media report, a few of Roan’s staunchest admirers described how her fan group argued with her statements.
“I can tell so many people are split since I manage a Chappell Roan fan account. Some people take her statements out of context, but there are also plenty who agree with her,” Indica Elizabeth stated. She is the owner of @mykinkishq, one of the most well-known Roan fan accounts on Instagram.
When Elizabeth first heard Roan’s music in 2020, she “fell in love right away.” She admired not just her sense of style but also “her refusal to let anyone tell her how to be herself.”
For Elizabeth personally, Roan’s remarks during the interview and subsequent videos reinforced her choice of how she would vote on November 5.
“I will be able to cast my first ballot in the US this year. As a woman and a student, seeing Chappell’s films just strengthened my conviction about who I should support and helped me to acknowledge that, despite my little voice, I still have one,” Elizabeth remarked. “I contacted a local congressman about the issue I discovered in our region after seeing her videos, and he came back to me with everything. Never forget to vote locally and to support your deserving local representatives.”
The Roan supporter had some opinions regarding voters making decisions based solely on the actions of celebrities.
“Choosing a candidate to support shouldn’t be based just on their endorsement. Kindly research each contender and read what they have to say and offer. Numerous aspects of our futures are at stake in this election, which is very significant. Elections are not about privilege; they are about empathy, according to Elizabeth.
