Former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney lashes out at Ted Cruz for his ‘dangerous’ loyalty to Trump

US: Liz Cheney, a former Republican congresswoman, did not hesitate to call Texas Sen. Ted Cruz a ‘threating danger’, after Cruz’s promise of doing “whatever” that Trump asked him post-election.

While Republican Cruz has gravitated in November to Representative Colin Allred, Demoncrat, accusing Cruz, Cheney has taken an even greater bite against Cruz. Cheney, who was a Congressman from Wyoming, has also joined her fellow Republicans, including her father, Former Vice President Dick Cheney, to support Kamala Harris against Donald Trump in the presidential race of 2024.

Cheney detailed the reasons why she supported Allred instead of Cruz, who is a strong supporter of Trump, during a media report station WFAA interview on Tuesday. She counseled the reporter that ‘the consummate conservative principle… with one’s oath, is being true to the constitution and one’s obligation to protect it.’

There were comments where Cruz would try to resurrect phrases of the president with criticism aimed at Trump’s ridiculous characterizations of the 2020 elections being stuffed for the former president. And you know, when I watched the kinds of things that we saw Ted Cruz do after the 2020 election, in particular, the steps he took to pander to Donald Trump, I mean, yes, that’s just—it’s just—dangerous.

“Because these jobs really matter, so for this race, I would like to do my utmost to make sure that the people of Texas make sure that they vote for Collin Allred,” said Cheney, who explained why assisting Texas Democratic Representative Collin Allred’s campaign in defeating Cruz was important.

Cruz, known as one of the most outspoken of the Republican Senators, said that before Congress was due to certify the votes of the people in the 2020 election, he planned to dispute the electors in areas where there have been accusations of voting fraud. On January 6th, 2021, deciding against backtracking, Cruz stood his grounds and did not accept Arizona’s votes before a mob of Trump supporters burst into the Capitol to try and prevent the electoral processes from going through.

Cheney, on the other hand, as a member of the House of Representatives select committee established to investigate the January 6th attack, was, in the end, only waiting to suggest that Trump’s potential wrongdoing should be looked into by the Justice department.

In an interview held in May, Cruz did not respond to the question whether or not he would concede the election that would take place in 2024, just in a ‘secondary way,’ saying that it was a “stupid question.”

Cruz stated, “From the people and politicians to prove voter fraud, there has been entire election law system of challenges to dealings or overturning elections. There has been a lot of this, all the time.”

After a little more probing from Collins, Cruz replied that “If the democrats win” in November, I will abide by the decision but then added, “However, I will not be complacent about the fraud, no matter what it is.”

Even if the race is getting closer, according to a more recent study by the Texas Public Opinion Research, Allred’s percentage of polling has been lower than Cruz’s. Allred was 4 percentage points behind Cruz in an 800 voter poll, so it was 47 percent to 43 percent in the lead for Cruz. Still, even implicit heresy, almost every one polls this figure in the range of 3.5 percent.

Through RealClearPolling, on this day, September 5,274, Cruz was leading by an average of six percent.
