Peter Navarro: Trump’s adviser, frightened by the strong equation between Modi-Jinping and Putin, condemned India
Peter Navarro: a White House adviser, has again criticized India for buying oil from Russia. Peter Navarro made a remark that he hardly understands. Navarro has framed India’s oil purchases from Russia from a casteist perspective. ‘Brahmins’ are making money off of the Indian people, and this has to end, according to Peter Navarro.

Navarro often makes ludicrous claims
In an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” White House adviser Peter Navarro said, “Look, (Prime Minister) Modi is a great leader.” As the head of the biggest democracy in the world, he said that Modi “does not understand how Indian leaders are cooperating with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.” “So I just want to say, Indian people, please understand what is happening here,” Navarro added. There are ‘Brahmins’ that are making money off of the Indian populace. We must put an end to this. For the last two days, Navarro has been making ludicrous claims about India.
Trump has levied high tariffs on India
India is subject to a 25 percent tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump, and the purchase of Russian oil is subject to an extra 25 percent charge. The obligation placed on India has been characterized as “unfair and unreasonable.” He was also questioned about whether forcing Putin to “kneel down” would require placing more duties on India. To this, he said, “Well, frankly, we have now imposed a 50 percent duty on India, but the question is how much more do you want to impose without really hurting yourself?”
India didn’t purchase oil before
According to Navarro, India only purchased very, very little amounts of Russian oil before Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. “Then what happened?” he asked. Well, major Indian oil firms have partnered with Russian refiners. Modi receives a crude oil discount from Putin. He earns a lot of money by refining it and then selling it to Europe, Africa, and Asia at a higher price. “This fuels the Russian war machine and India has become just an oil money laundering center for the Kremlin,” he said.
India has made its position clear
India argues that market circumstances and national interest are the driving forces for its energy acquisitions, including its purchase of Russian crude oil. Since Western nations placed sanctions on Russian crude oil following the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has emerged as India’s leading energy supplier. Navarro has previously referred to the crisis in Ukraine as “Modi’s war” and said that “New Delhi” is a part of the “road to peace.”
