Trump lawyer demands release of unedited transcript of Kamala Harris’ 60 Minutes interview
In a letter to CBS News, Donald Trump‘s attorney requested that the network provide an unedited transcript of its 60-minute interview with Kamala Harris.
“Intentionally misled the public by broadcasting a skillfully edited interview transcript … aimed at causing confusion among the electorate regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’s abilities, intelligence, and appeal,” according to a letter written by Trump’s lawyer, Edward Andrew Paltzik.
Paltzik requested in the letter why Harris’ whole “word salad” response about U.S.-Israeli ties was not shown in the October 7 60 Minutes interview.
In addition, the letter implies that a “puppet” master manipulated the interview to Harris’s advantage and threatened legal action without outlining the specifics of the potential litigation.
“News organizations such as CBS have a responsibility to accurately represent the truth of events, not distort an interview to try and make their preferred candidate appear coherent and decisive, which Harris most certainly is not,” Paltzik said. “Due to CBS’ actions, the public cannot distinguish which Kamala Harris they are seeing: the candidate or the puppet of a behind-the-scenes editor.”
“CBS deceived viewers into thinking Harris’ answer was, at the very least—as CBS put it—more ‘succinct’ than the word salad it actually was,” Trump writes in his letter.
“We therefore demand that you immediately provide and publicly release the full, unedited transcript of the 60 Minutes Interview with Kamala Harris.”Furthermore, in light of potential legal action, we need that you save any correspondence and records pertaining to this interview, including any revisions made to its content, and that you not delete any pertinent correspondence or records.”
In its statement, CBS attempted to clarify why Harris’s response on 60 Minutes was longer than her response in a segment that aired on the television program Face the Nation.
“A greater portion of her response than that on 60 Minutes was utilized in the 60 Minutes segment that was shown on Face the Nation. The same query. The same response. However, another part of the answer,” CBS stated in a statement on Sunday.
Harris was questioned on why Israel doesn’t seem to be taking American counsel about the most recent conflict between Israel and Hamas during the 60 Minutes interview.
According to the Trump letter, her Face The Nation response was a worthless “word salad.”
In the video for Face The Nation, Harris responds: “Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.”
She provides a more concise response in the 60 Minutes interview, saying, “We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”
“CBS should lose its license,” Trump commented on the social networking platform Truth Social after the interview. The 60 minutes should be pulled off the air right now.
Trump persisted in threatening CBS on Sunday. “We’re going to subpoena their records,” he said. He did not respond when asked whether removing the station’s license would be too severe, but he reiterated his assertions that Harris is a Marxist.
