Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s sister downplayed a recent viral photo
U.S : The sister of Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota has played down a recently circulated image that seemed to show members of their extended family endorsing Donald Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris announced Tim Walz, a former congressman, as her running partner on August 6. The two will compete against Republican candidates, Ohio Senator JD Vance and Trump, in the 2024 presidential election.
The Democratic Party’s vice presidential contender Sandy Dietrich verified that the individuals wearing “Nebraska Walz’s for Trump” T-shirts in the most recent picture were not members of the governor’s immediate family.
Former Nebraska governor candidate Charles Herbster shared the image of eight individuals descended from Dietrich Walz’s brother, Francis Walz, on Twitter on Wednesday. Tim Walz’s grandpa was Francis Walz.
A representative for Herbster, Rod Edwards, told the Associated Press, “They’re all Walzes and spouses.”
Dietrich said to the publication that the individuals in the picture belonged to a separate family branch of the Walz family and that “we weren’t close with them.” They were unknown to us.”
Dietrich also reiterated that her family was behind her brother and Harris in their presidential campaign, characterizing them as “Democrats for Tim.”
“I’m voting for someone I know.” All I can do is that,” she said.
In the very red state of Nebraska, where his mother and sister still reside, Tim Walz was born and reared. James Walz, the father of Dietrich and Tim Walz, passed away in 1984 from lung cancer.
The family shown in the photo endorsing Trump verified the image’s veracity in an AP statement. Soon after Tim Walz was announced as the Democratic vice presidential candidate, they made the decision to host a “get-together”.
“We took a group photo and had T-shirts created to support JD Vance and President Trump. We requested for permission to publish the photograph after sharing it with others, and we gave our consent,” the family said.
“The image is authentic. The garments are authentic. Since our grandfathers were brothers, we are the Walz family from Nebraska and we are linked to Governor Tim Walz. “The shirt’s message, ‘Nebraska Walzs for Trump,’ speaks for itself,” the statement said.
In other instances, the elder brother of Tim Walz has attempted to minimize his earlier remarks on social media, whereby he condemned the governor’s political stance and said that he thought about supporting Trump in the 2024 election.
Florida resident Jeff Walz, a registered Republican, said on Facebook that he was “100% opposed” to his brother’s political views and that he had “thought hard” before endorsing Trump in public.

Later, he told NewsNation that he didn’t want to get engaged in any campaigns during the election and that Facebook “wasn’t the right platform” to voice his disagreement with his brother’s political beliefs.
“It wasn’t my intent, it wasn’t our intent as a family, to put something out there to influence the general public,” said Jeff Walz.
He then added, “But I will say that I disagree with his policies.”
Darlene Walz, the mother of the boys, told the Daily Beast that she didn’t want to get involved in her sons’ argument and that she only wanted to maintain harmony between them.
She said, “I think the best thing maybe, for me, is to just stay out of it.”
